Halloween Safety Tips, Trick or Treat Hours and Forecast for Needham

Dress warmly. The current forecast, according to the National Weather Service, for Friday night in Needham calls for a daytime high of 52 degrees and it will feel much chillier as the sun goes down, as temps fall to a low of 42 degrees Friday night. There is also a chance of showers.

Safety Tips for Drivers

• Slow down in residential neighborhoods and obey all traffic signs and signals.
• Drive at least 5 mph below the posted speed limit to give yourself extra time to react to any children who may dart out into the street.
• Watch for children walking on roadways, medians and curbs. In dark costumes, they’ll be harder to see at night.

• Always go trick or treating with an adult
• Only go to houses where you or your friends know the residents
• Don’t knock on doors where there is a sign saying “NO callers” or there are no outside lights on
• Stay in areas that are lit with streetlights - take a flashlight with you just in case
• Stay with your friends - don’t split into smaller groups unless an adult goes with you
• Don’t talk to strangers on the street
• Don’t enter any house, stay on the doorstep
• Always look carefully before crossing the road, even if you are part of a group
• Be visible
