Introduction to Jewelry Making (Katey Curtis)

Wednesdays, February 24 - April 13
Afternoon Session: 1 pm - 4 pm
Evening Session: 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm 8 Classes

Come learn the fundamental skills needed to make jewelry. Students will learn to saw, pierce, texture, form, solder, file, sand and polish metal through a series of guided projects. Students will work with copper, brass and silver, and can expect to leave class with a finished pendant, bracelet and ring with a set cabochon stone. Beginners, Ages 16+

Materials: $65.00 materials fee payable to the instructor.

Craft Your Own Pendant (Katey Curtis)

1 Day Workshop

Have you always wanted to make your own pendant? Come take this one-day workshop and learn how to transfer designs onto metal and how to saw and pierce your design from sheet metal. Drilling, forming, filing and polishing will be covered. Decorate your pendant with a pearl drop. Students can expect to leave wearing a finished silver pendant on a chain! Limited to 8 students. All Leves, Ages 16+

Stackable Rings

Saturday, March 5
9 am - 5 pm
1 Day Workshop

Come spend the day making a set of stackable rings! In this one-day workshop, students will learn to size, measure, cut, form and solder sterling silver rings. Roll printing and stamping tools will be explored as a means to decorate the rings. Students can expect to fabricate a bezel and set a cabochon stone onto one of their rings. Leave with a stack of sterling silver rings to decorate your finger of choice! Limited to 8 students. All Levels, Ages: Adults, 16+

About Your Instructor

Katey Curtis has been sharing her passion for working with metals for 24 years as a teacher of students of all ages. She studied metalworking and jewelry making with Tim McCreight at the former School for Professional Crafts at the Worcester Center for Crafts in Worcester, Massachusetts. She works as a studio jeweler making limited production and one-of a-kind pieces from her studio located in the historic Bancroft Building in Framingham and is a member of a collective group of artists there known as Fountain Street Studios.
