Needham, MA – After a great season for the Needham Rockets, the first accolades are starting to roll in.<a href="http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/high_school/high_school_insider/2016/06/high_school_baseball_final_north_and_south_baseball" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">Tuesday, the Boston Herald</a> named baseball coach Matt Howard the Division 1 South Coach of the Year. His 14-10 team finished the season ranked fifth overall in Division 1 South.The Rockets finished the regular season in third place in the Carey Division of the very competitive Bay State Conference. After entering the Division 1 South tournament as the 11th seed, the Rockets went on a run to the South finals, where they fell to Silver Lake.

Passion, politics, and pulse-pounding rhythm collide! Martín Palmeri’s “Misatango” electrifies the Latin Mass with fiery Argentinian “new tango,” blending chorus, bandoneón, and strings in a bold, emotional ride that has energized audiences on several continents. By embedding tango’s harmonic language, rhythms, and melodic designs in the orchestra, Palmeri frees the chorus to simply “sing the Mass”, plunging the audience into a world of uplifting emotions, passion, and syncopation.
Opening the concert is Lamentations of the Prophet Jeremiah by Alberto Ginastera, an intense work written in exile in 1946. Setting Latin texts from the Book of Lamentations and with dissonant harmonies, jagged rhythms, and stark contrasts, Ginasteri’s music expresses profound sorrow and spiritual desolation.
Adding to the verve of the Latin American program are scintillating dance performances by Boston-based tangueros, curated by bandoneonist Alex Roitman and accompanied by a tango instrumental ensemble.
