
NEEDHAM, MA — The Needham boys basketball team have earned a trip to the TD Garden and a south sectional championship.
The Rockets beat the Mansfield Hornets 65-56 in a competitive showdown to win the MIAA Division 1 South championship. They will face the north champion Tuesday in the state semi-final in Boston.
Needham took a five-point lead into the first quarter, capping off the opening frame with a half-court shot at the buzzer.

Tied 42-42 in the third quarter, Needham pulled away, outscoring Mansfield 23-14 for the rest of the game.

The state semi-final is scheduled for March 14 at 7:30 p.m.
