NEEDHAM, MA — When the MIAA Division 1 football playoffs start this weekend, the Needham Rockets will be in the running for the state title.  Friday night, No. 5 Needham will play No. 4 Catholic Memorial. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Catholic Memorial. The winner of this game faces the winner of No. 1 Xaverian vs. No. 8 Franklin.  Needham finished the regular season with a record of 4-3 and in second place in the Bay State Conference's Carey Division.

Passion, politics, and pulse-pounding rhythm collide! Martín Palmeri’s “Misatango” electrifies the Latin Mass with fiery Argentinian “new tango,” blending chorus, bandoneón, and strings in a bold, emotional ride that has energized audiences on several continents. By embedding tango’s harmonic language, rhythms, and melodic designs in the orchestra, Palmeri frees the chorus to simply “sing the Mass”, plunging the audience into a world of uplifting emotions, passion, and syncopation.
Opening the concert is Lamentations of the Prophet Jeremiah by Alberto Ginastera, an intense work written in exile in 1946. Setting Latin texts from the Book of Lamentations and with dissonant harmonies, jagged rhythms, and stark contrasts, Ginasteri’s music expresses profound sorrow and spiritual desolation.
Adding to the verve of the Latin American program are scintillating dance performances by Boston-based tangueros, curated by bandoneonist Alex Roitman and accompanied by a tango instrumental ensemble.
