Needham Girls' Lacrosse Wins D1 South Title
The Rockets move on to the state semi-finals against Andover.
NEEDHAM, MA — It was close, but the Needham girls' lacrosse team a has a new trophy and a future banner.
The Rockets captured the MIAA Division 1 South championship with a 10-9 win over Notre Dame Academy of Hingham Saturday afternoon. The win puts the team in the state semi-finals, where they will face Andover Tuesday night at Babson.
Notre Dame held on to a slim lead early in the game, taking a 2-1 advantage within four minutes. Needham took their first lead at 4-3 with 9:27 left in the first half.

Coming out of the half with a 7-6 lead, two quick goals made it a three-point advantage. Notre Dame, however, slowly chipped away and were within one with 6:42 to play.

Great saves by Liz Vallatini prevented the tying goal and sent Needham to the next round.
