Needham Junction Ice Cream To Reopen
The popular spot for people to get ice cream while waiting for the train at Needham Junction station is back.
NEEDHAM, MA — It was a short retirement, but Needham Junction Ice Cream is officially coming back. For 20 years, this little ice cream stand was a popular spot for people to get a cone while they waited for the train at Needham Junction station, or to just relax and watch the trains pass by.
The stand closed last August due to "unforeseen circumstances" beyond its control, the shop said on its Facebook page. But no one submitted a bid for the lease with the MBTA by the Dec. 21 deadline. This opened the door for Needham Junction Ice Cream to reopen.
"Thanks to the wonderful people of Needham and your response to us having to close the window for good, we were able to come to an agreement that will allow us to reopen and continue to serve the Junction faithful," the shop announced on Facebook Thursday. "We could never express to you how much your words, social media posts and physical support meant and continues to mean to us. For that we are truly moved and forever grateful."
