Needham Police Log: Fraud, Vehicle Break-in, and More

April 13
A resident of Bridle Trail Road reported that he was notified by the IRS that someone had tried to file a fraudulent tax return using his social security number. The IRS was able to stop the attempt.
3:30 p.m. - An officer observed a male party in the Hillside Ave area walking in the direction on Hunnewell Street. A well-being check was done and upon further investigation the party, a 30-year-old Needham man, was determined to be under the influence of an intoxicating beverage. He was taken into protective custody for his safety.

A Burlington resident reported that her car was hit while parked on First Avenue. There was minor damage to the left front of the vehicle. There were no witnesses.
April 15

Police responded to a Tillotson Road address for a report of harassing phone calls. The resident was given information and was satisfied.
April 16
10:11am - An officer was dispatched to a Highland Avenue business for an attempted cashing of a fraudulent check at the drive-thru window. The debit card was stolen and the employees also believed the operator of the vehicle was wearing a wig and did not resemble the photo on the license. The matter is under investigation.
April 17
8:00 - Police responded to a Pickering Street address for a past motor vehicle break-in. A small amount of cash was taken from the vehicle while it was parked in the driveway. The vehicle was unlocked when the incident occurred.
