Needham Man Charged With Stabbing Parents; Girlfriend Found Dead

Benjamin Walsh has been charged with stabbing his parents and is likely to face charges related to the death of his girlfriend.

NEEDHAM, MA — A Needham man will face charges for allegedly stabbing his parents in a Millis restaurant and will likely be charged in connection to the death of his girlfriend, authorities confirmed Sunday morning.

Benjamin Walsh, 24, will face be arraigned in Wrentham District Court Monday on charges related to the Millis incident, the Norfolk County District Attorney's office announced Sunday night. Walsh has not been charged in the Needham incident but is likely to be arraigned on homicide charges in Dedham District Court at a time to be determined.

Morrissey said officers were called to Primavera Restaurant on Pleasant Street in Millis at about 7 p.m. Saturday for a report of a domestic incident. Upon arrival, officers located two victims suffering from stab wounds and a subdued and restrained Walsh. Police say the victims were Walsh's parents. His mother is in serious condition and his father is doing better, according to Morrissey.

The investigation in Millis led police to a well being check at Walsh's apartment on Marshall Street in Needham, where police discovered Walsh's girlfriend dead from stab wounds. She has been identified as 20-year-old Olivia Bergstrom of Needham.

The death is being investigated as a homicide and Morrissey said he expects Walsh to face charges.

Specific charges for both incidents have not been released.

Investigators believe that Walsh's parents were at the restaurant for a family function but declined to discuss the specifics of the incident.

Morrissey gave few details about both incidents, citing the ongoing and active investigation. Millis Police Chief Christopher Soffayer said the Walsh family is held in high regard in his town and they do not have experience responding to incidents with members of that family.

The stabbing was part of a difficult day in Needham. Two teenagers have died following an unrelated crash at the intersection of Webster and Holland streets. That remains under investigation and no charges have been filed.
