NHS Wrestlers recap for week of Jan. 5
NHS Rocket Wrestlers finish in second place at Belmont tournament
The Needham High wrestlers suffered their first loss of the season to undefeated Bay State rival Framingham Wednesday night falling to the Flyers 44-25. The Rockets got pins from sophomores Andy Kaplan and Brady Liss and wins from senior Dan Goldstein and junior Ethan Okunas in hard fought match ups. The team also participated in Belmont’s Brendan Grant Memorial Tournament on Saturday finishing in second place overall out of 14 teams. The varsity squad had 10 wrestlers place. Brady Liss finished in sixth place and senior Will Burke and junior Panagiotis Zymaris placed fifth for their weight classes. Coming in fourth place were seniors Dan Goldstein, Alex Goff and Travis Szetela and junior Ethan Okunas. Junior Lucas Goldman and freshman Adam Kates finished in third place. Sophomore Dan Aksman was tournament champion for his weight class of 182. The team will travel to BSC rival Norwood for this week’s dual match.
