Nominations are now being accepted for the 2015 Needham High School George Dennett Distinguished Career Awards

Do you have a son or daughter who graduated from Needham High School and has excelled as a corporate officer, community activist or entrepreneur? Are you a grandparent of a Needham High School alumni who feels that your grandchild should be recognized for his or her dedication to non-profit causes, government service or education? Are you a former NHS student who has been impressed with a classmate’s success in the military, entertainment industry or the performing arts? Well, now you have the opportunity to recognize these exceptional people by nominating them for the 26th Annual George Dennett Distinguished Career Award named after NHS’s long-time teacher, coach and architect of the award, George Dennett.

In 1990, Needham High School established the Distinguished Career Award as a way to connect accomplished NHS graduates with NHS juniors who are beginning to think about higher education and career choices after high school. Since then, nearly 50 NHS alumni have been honored for making significant contributions in their chosen field of endeavor. Past recipients include James S. Gracey (’45), Admiral, U.S. Coast Guard (Ret.); Charles Baker (’75),Governor Commonwealth of Massachusetts; Jeff Taylor (‘78), Founder and former CEO of Monster.com; and 2006 honorees; John Akers (’52), Former CEO and Chairman of the Board of IBM, Bert Jacobs (’83) and John Jacobs (’86), Co-Owners/Founders Live is good, Inc., and Michael Aronson (’81), Editorial Board Member, New York Daily News.

Nominees must be NHS alumni who graduated before 2005 and are able to attend the awards ceremony and a public luncheon reception on Friday, October 30, 2015. All nominations must be received by April 10, 2015 to be considered for the 2015 Award.
