State House Opens its Library to Area Residents
Needham residents can find local artifacts through a tour.

Needhamites and other Massachusetts residents are invited to tour the State Library in Boston by appointment this week.
Until July 30, the library is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Tours of the library can also be established by calling 617-727-2590 or emailing pamela.schofield@state.ma.us.
"This is just one of the many historical opportunities available to constituents to learn about the history of the Commonwealth and its unique communities," said State Senator Richard Ross.

As the state's largest collection of historical Massachusetts documents, the library offers history buffs and Needham aficionados a bevy of photographs, manuscripts and other town and district specific items. Those who are interested in receiving a more localized tour can specify their district when calling the library. Items at the State Library serve as a compliment to items found at Needham's Historical Society, the latter of which provides a more specific look into Needham's past.
Legal and legislative items can additionally be found at the State Library, as well as current newspapers, magazines and journals.
