Wasserman Earns Endorsement of MA Sierra Club

The Needham candidate for State Rep. has been officially endorsed by the Sierra Club.

The campaign to elect Jerry Wasserman for State Representative announced that the Needham resident has been endorsed by the Massachusetts Sierra Club in the following press release:

The Massachusetts Sierra Club, a chapter of the oldest and largest grassroots environmental organization in the country, has endorsed Jerry Wasserman for State Representative for the towns of Needham, Dover and Medfield.

The Sierra Club has been working to protect communities, open space, wildlife and the planet itself since 1892. The Sierra Club advocates for policies that will ensure protection of our public spaces, increase the use of clean energy, improve energy conservation, combat global warming, and expand public transportation. The Sierra Club's Political Committee has endorsed Jerry Wasserman because he has strong record of protecting the environment and he will best represent the goals of the Sierra Club on environmental issues and legislation in the State House.

Phillip Sego, Political Chair of the Massachusetts Sierra Club said, "Throughout Jerry's career, his focus on environmental issues has demonstrated his commitment to protecting our wildlife, ushering in a new era of green technology, and reducing our carbon footprint. He will be an unwavering advocate for environmental protection in the State House."

"I have always greatly respected the work of the Sierra Club and I am thrilled to have their support," said Wasserman. "I believe that this endorsement is recognition of the work have I done and will continue to do on environmental issues."

Jerry Wasserman has been a selectman in Needham for 11 years, previously serving as a School Committee member for 9 years. As a Selectman and a member of Green Needham, Wasserman has been a leader in bringing alternative energies to the community including geothermal, wind, and solar. In addition, he has worked to improve public transportation and to replace town vehicles with hybrids. As a state legislator, Wasserman will make environmental concerns a priority.

Jerry Wasserman is on the ballot in the September 14th Democratic Primary to represent the 13th Norfolk District, which is made up of the the towns of Needham, Dover and part of Medfield.
