Week in Review: Local Couples Share; Candidate Joins Selectman Race

Life gets busy, and we at Patch certainly understand that. So with that in mind, here are a few stories you might have missed on Needham Patch this week.

1. How We Met… If you missed it, be sure to check out the video we put together with stories and advice from local couples that have been married for decades. How did they meet? How did he know she was the one? And what should every couple know in order to have a long, happy relationship? These couples tell all.
2. Borrelli Joins Selectman Race: Finance Committee chairman Matt Borrelli pulled papers on Tuesday, Feb. 14 to run for a two-year term on the Board of Selectmen, joining School Committee member Michael Greis in the race.
3. Selectmen Consider Raising Disposal Rates: Selectmen heard a report from the Solid Waste Disposal and Recycling Advisory Committee about the Recycling and Transfer Station budget and the need to raise trash bag fees by a nickel per bag, among other proposed changes.
4. Report: Wine, Beer Shops Not Hugely Profitable: Economic Development Director Devra Bailin spoke to selectmen on Tuesday, Feb. 14 about a recent study on the profitability of wine and beer shops, as the town considers lifting its ban on retail alcohol sales.
5. Plugged In Teens Win Film Festival Prize: A group of young musicians found out they received a prize in the If I Had a Trillion Dollars Youth Film Festival. Read more about the festival and follow a link to view their video.
