Newton residents earn honors at NCDS

and Senior Project Honors, Catherine Joyce in Latin IV Honors; Koger in AP
English, Martinez-Alvarez in choreography, Trachy in Pre-Calculus, Cloonan
in Latin II, Maguire and McGauley in religion, Cecily Power in Honors History,
Utzschneider and Kaleigh O’Connor in history, Franchi in Spanish II,
Kryatzoglou in French II, Lee and McKee in art, Claudia Durbin in Latin, Lily Durbin
in religion and art, Ings and Katherine Levangie in music, Madeline Levangie in
Cantilare, Claire Picken in science, Patrice Power in Advanced Algebra I, Hannah
Joyce in French, Farrell and Eliza Durbin in English, Rose O’Connor in math, and
Lucia Jrolf in dance.

Gallo received the George
Eastman Young Leaders Prize awarded to a student who demonstrates outstanding
academic achievement and strong leadership in school and community. Catherine
Joyce was awarded the National Honor Society Book
Prize for her outstanding character, scholarship, leadership, and
service. Elizabeth Picken received the Alice Husson Award for qualities
of generosity, service, courtesy, and responsibility. Sacred Heart Goal Awards were presented to Carroll, Henderson, and Katherine Levangie.

Additionally, Madeline Tango won Second Place and the Innovation Award at
the Massachusetts State Middle School Science Fair held June 1 at Worcester
Technical High School. Claudia Durbin, Howe, and Patrice Power each won a Third
Place Award.
