17th ANNUAL SAINT MARY MAGDALENE CELEBRATION<a href="https://events.bc.edu/event/women-of-the-dawn-mary-magdalene-and-tonantzinour-lady-of-guadalupe" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Women of the Dawn: Mary Magdalene and Tonantzin/Our Lady of Guadalupe</a>
This celebration of the feast of St. Mary Magdalene begins with Mass and lunch, followed by a lecture.The Gospel of John describes Mary of Magdala approaching Jesus’ burial place “early” in the morning, “while it was still dark.” It speaks of an in-between time, pregnant with new hope and possibilities. She is the first to witness the Resurrection, to announce the Good News. Inspired by Mary of Magdala, in this presentation Sister Ana María Pineda, RSM introduces another “Woman of the Dawn,” Tonantzin, the ancient mother goddess of the indigenous world of the Americas, now called Our Lady of Guadalupe. Both women call us to reflect on the power of witness—testimonio—and how we are also called to announce the good news for all, especially the poor.

From 10:30am - 12:30pm at Lincoln-Eliot Elementary, children can use LEGO bricks to design sustainability-inspired creations such as solar-powered homes, wind farms, electric vehicles, parks, and future green cities. While young builders bring their ideas to life, parents can learn about clean energy solutions for their homes from Green Newton's Energy Advocate. A snack will also be provided.

Kids will create their own one-of-a-kind sun print T-shirt using the power of sunlight, then head out for a guided farm tour and learn how solar energy works. While the kids explore the farm, parents and caregivers are invited to chat with Green Newton’s Energy Advocate about ways to make their homes more energy-efficient, comfortable, and climate-friendly.Ages 7–12&nbsp;with a caretaker (siblings are welcome!)
Cost: $5 per child (covers supplies)

The Downsize for Diversity program was originally started by the 501(c)(3) organization, the Lincoln METCO Coordinating Committee, in Lincoln, MA, and raised $170,000 from 2017 to 2022. This was invested in a policy-driven endowment fund and has earned over $50,000 in investment income.
Since moving to the Boston Bridges Initiative in 2023 Downsize for Diversity has netted over $137,000 in art sales.
