Covers all basics that recreational boaters must know: types of boats, required boating equipment, trip planning and preparation, marine environment, safe boat operation, emergency preparedness, and personal watercraft safety. Taught by certified instructors from the US Power Squadron, a national non-profit organization dedicated to promoting safe boating. This course is approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators and recognized by the US Coast Guard. After successful completion of the course, participants receive a safe boater certificate accepted by MA, NH, RI, ME, CT, VT, and many other states. (NH and CT require all boat operators to hold a certificate, RI requires a certificate for all boaters under age 25, and MA & ME require a certificate for personal watercraft operators under age 18.)
