Medford Sex Offender Arrested On Child Pornography Charge
The man has two previous convictions of similar offenses on his record.
MEDFORD, MA — A resident has been arrested on child pornography charges, the United States District Attorney’s Office announced Thursday.
James Muzzi, 61, appeared in Boston federal court after officially being charged with possession of child pornography. Muzzi is a registered sex offender who was previously convicted of three counts of distribution of child pornography and two counts of possession of child pornography. According to the USDA, Muzzi’s cell phone contained thousands of images and videos of child sex abuse material, including children who are believed to be between the ages of three and five years old. In addition, his phone also included communication with multiple other people in which CSAM was exchanged and discussed.
Because of his status as a repeat offender, Muzzi is facing a minimum sentence of 10 years in prison, up to a lifetime of supervised release, and a fine of $250,000.

USDA for the District of Massachusetts Leah Foley named the Medford Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Julissa Walsh and Luke Goldworm of the Major Crimes Unit as the main prosecutors of the case.
The case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a national initiative launched in 2006 in response to the growing threat of cyber sexual exploitation of children. Muzzi remains detained and his next court date has not yet been announced.
