Heritage Festival concert - Grupo Fantasia

Sunday, July 24, 6:30pm. Newton Center Green. Bring a picnic, a blanket or chairs to sit on, and enjoy a free summer concert of Latin music from all over the Caribbean and South America. Formed in 1993 by lead singer and master percussionist Angel Wagner, Grupo Fantasia will get you moving! Originally from the Dominican Republic, Angel began his career playing with a cheese grater and fork! The band provides traditional island entertainment and much of the music is performed on original, handmade indigenous instruments. Their extensive repertoire includes Cuban, Dominican Merengue, Puerto Rican Bomba and Plena, Colombian Cumbia, Mexican Mariachi, Calypso, Reggae and Salsa music. www.newtoncommunitypride.org
