Homeowners Have Chance to Have Separate Outdoor Water Meter

Newton residents can order a second meter to measure water usage. Want one? You've not got long until the deadline passes.

Residents now have the option of ordering an outdoor water meter in Newton, which allows for separate metering of outdoor water use effective July 1.

Anyone wishing to get a second meter to qualify for the summer’s new rate structure has to register by April 1.

“Currently, residents are billed sewer charges for all water entering a household even though outdoor water usage never enters the sewer system,” says the announcement. “Second meters would measure the amount of water used outdoors and would not incur the sewer rate.”
