Man Pleads Guilty To Sex Trafficking In Newton Police Case

NEWTON, MA — A Dorchester man pleaded guilty Monday in Boston federal court to multiple sex trafficking charges associated with a Newton police case, according to the U.S. Attorney's office.

Bruce "Arki" Brown, 43, pleaded guilty to sex trafficking of a minor, transportation of a minor for purposes of prostitution, two counts of conspiracy to commit sex trafficking by force, fraud and coercion, obstruction of justice, and witness tampering. He faces a $250,000 fine and life in prison for several of these charges.

Brown was initially indicted in February 2020, but in June 2020, he was also charged in a superseding indictment with obstruction of justice and witness tampering for attempting to influence a victim's testimony related to the charges against him, calling this scheme his "Plan B."

In July 2020, he was charged in a second superseding indictment with additional counts of sex trafficking and conspiracy to commit sex trafficking. According to this indictment, he engaged in the sex trafficking of five victims over a 15 year period beginning in June 2004 and continuing through approximately December 2019.

Brown is due back in court on Feb. 10, 2022 for sentencing.
