Newton Cultural Alliance Welcomes

Chris Pitts to the Board

The Newton Cultural Alliance (NCA) is excited to announce the recent addition to their board of Christopher Bonner Pitts of Waban. A man of many talents and interests, Chris’ enthusiastic support of community and the arts typifies him as a 21st-century Renaissance man. Since 1988, Chris has been a music and TV producer, producing hundreds of hours of in-studio and field production tapings. In addition, Chris is a professional saxophonist and music contractor, performing regularly (when conditions permit) with big band ensembles across New England. Chris is very active in the Newton community and serves as President of the Waban Area Council, on the Board of NewTV Media Center, and as Vice President of the Waban Improvement Society, and is the Founder/Director of the Newton Piano Summit, which has recently gone online to great success. He is Co-Chair of the Newton Cultural Council and has played a vital and very active role in working with and supporting culture and the arts, and, specifically, has been a voice for the artists in our community for many years. “As the NCA works to open its first collaborative arts and culture facility in September at the Nathaniel Allen House in West Newton, we are truly excited to have Chris join us on the board with his multiple talents and contagious enthusiasm for arts and culture in Newton,” said NCA Board chair, Laurel Farnsworth. “Chris’ vast experience, creative problem solving, and expertise in recording and videotaping will be a key element as we develop appropriate socially distanced opportunities, in the near term, in the magnificent new barn performance space at the Allen House.”

The NCA, founded in 2009, is an organization committed to serving the creative community of Newton, connecting culture, the arts, artists, and community at large through diverse creative opportunities in the city. The NCA mission of advocacy for the arts organization members, building economic development ties with the business community, and developing collaborative facilities for the creative community serves nearly 30 member organizations. The NCA’s individual creative membership program providing opportunities for individuals to be members and part of the NCA arts advocacy program will be launched shortly.
