Newton Local Elected to American Institute for Medical Biological Engineering

Northeastern Professor Elected to AIMBE

Shashi Murthy, chemical engineering professor and Director of the Sherman Center at Northeastern University’s College of Engineering, has been elected a Fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) for outstanding contributions to the science and technology of cell purification for therapeutic and analytical applications.

AIMBE Fellows represent the top 2% of the medical and biological engineering community and are elected via a rigorous process. The AIMBE College of Fellows is a group of around 1,500 individuals who have distinguished themselves through their contributions in research, industrial practice and/or education and biological engineering.

Murthy, a Newton resident, received his B.S in Chemical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University and his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Prior to joining the faculty of the College of Engineering, he completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital.
