Newton Police: Woman Allegedly Tries to Pass 3 $50 Counterfeit Bills; Stolen Welding Machine, Bike

Incidents, April 11
- Newton police responded to a residence on Elm Street for a past B&E. The owner said that sometime during the night, someone entered the side door of his garage, which was unlocked, and went in. Missing is a Lincoln Welding Machine.
- Police responded to Beacon Street Walgreens for a female customer who was trying to pay with counterfeit bills. An employee showed three $50 dollar bills, saying that the woman attempted to purchase gift cards with the counterfeit bills. Police immediately noted that the texture of the bills was not consistent with that of real U.S. currency, and two of the bills had identical serial numbers. Jennifer M. Rounds, 26, 28 Academy Ave., Apt. 3, Providence, RI, was arrested and charged with uttering counterfeit notes.
- A resident of Bellingham Street reported a stolen bike, saying that her yellow Bianchi Hybrid bike was missing from the garage. She said the garage was left open the past few days and she had last seen the bike on April 8, but she thinks it was taken on the evening of April 10.
