Newton Resident Joins Williams James's Board of Trustees
The nonprofit university is also located in Newton.
NEWTON, MA — William James College has welcomed one of Newton’s own as one of the newest members to the institution’s Board of Trustees.
Resident Julie Rosen was elected along with Fernando Alonso as the newest members of the board. Rosen earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Tufts University before going on to earn a master’s degree in management in Human Services from Brandeis University’s Florence Heller School of Social Welfare.
Rosen’s professional career includes working as the Executive Director of the Schwartz Center for Compassionate Healthcare, where she is credited with transforming what was once a small nonprofit nationally and internationally recognized organization. Rosen’s other previous leadership roles include Assistant Vice President for Public and Community Affairs at Tufts Health Plan and Executive Director of the Conference of Boston Teaching Hospitals, as well as positions with the Massachusetts Hospital Association, Massachusetts Medical Society, and the American Dental Hygienists’ Association.

Roen’s current role is as the Director of Wittkieffer. Wittkieffer is also a nonprofit entity that focuses on leadership searches and development for the nonprofit, academics, and healthcare fields.
“Ms. Rosen brings a passion to improve access to culturally informed behavioral healthcare and leadership to the William James College Board,” William James President Dr. Nicholas Covino said in a statement. “Her experience with youth, education, organizational leadership and compassionate care will add to the skills of our talented WJC Board of Trustees. The College is fortunate to have her generosity and service at this important time.”

William James is located at 1 Wells Ave. and was founded in 1974. The private University is known for its psychology program, as it was originally titled the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology. Its Board of Trustees consists of 17 members.
