Newton Woman Charged With Impersonating A Doctor And Performing Illegal Surgery

The resident reportedly caused serious injury to someone she performed a cosmetic procedure on.

NEWTON, MA — A resident is slated to be arraigned later this week after being arrested on charges related to improper and unregistered cosmetic surgery she reportedly performed on someone, according to Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden.

Dingrui Wang, 34, has officially been charged with four counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, one count of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious injury, one count of kidnapping, two counts of larceny more than $1200 by false pretense, and unauthorized practice of medicine and improper use of the title of physician and receiving payment for a surgical procedure.

The charges against Wang reportedly date back to January 2020 in which she pretended to be a licensed physician and performed double eyelid blepharoplasty surgery on a 22-year-old woman. According to Hayden, the Newton resident injected local anesthetic and non-FDA approved dermal fillers into the patient’s eyelids which resulted in permanent scarring. The woman reportedly tried to leave the facility during the procedure but Wang pushed her back onto the table and prevented her from leaving until the surgery was complete. This reported event took place at an unlicensed facility on 57A Brighton Ave in the Boston neighborhood of Allston.

“Physicians are licensed for very good reasons, primary among them the assurance that patients are going to be treated by someone trained and certified to deliver safe, effective medical procedures,” Hayden said. “When misrepresentations are made the results can be devastating.”

Wang also falsely claimed to have aesthetician, massage therapist, and hair salon licenses on a loan application to the American Lending Center that resulted in her receiving a loan of $37,379.
