Newton residents David Wong and his daughter, Ann, hosted Joslin Diabetes Center researchers, staff and supporters who dined throughout the day at the 3rd annual Dim Sum for Diabetes event at their restaurant, Empire Garden Restaurant in Chinatown. Held in honor of National Diabetes Awareness Month, the event was widely attended by members of the community who enjoyed cart-service dim sum classics while learning some important facts on diabetes within the Asian community, one of the largest at-risk populations, from Joslin’s leading researchers and clinicians. All proceeds from the event benefitted Joslin’s Asian American Diabetes Initiative (AADI), which strives to enhance the quality of life and health outcomes for the rising number of Asian Americans living with diabetes.
