Cambridge Police Make Arrest In Weekend Shots Fired Incident
The person was arrested four days after the incident took place.
CAMBRIDGE, MA — The police department announced Thursday that it has made an arrest in connection to an incident of shots fired this past weekend.
Resident Shawndell Johnson, 30, was arrested on Wednesday, Jan. 28. According to the department, officers were able to obtain a warrant for his arrest after uncovering evidence that connected Johnson to the scene.
Officers responded to that scene on Chestnut Street at approximately 1 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24 after receiving multiple emergency calls about gunshots being fired in the vicinity. Ballistic evidence was found and recovered almost immediately upon arrival. No injuries have been reported and police said it believes there is no broader danger to the community.

Johnson was arraigned in Cambridge District Court on Thursday morning, police said. The case will be prosecuted by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.
In January of 2019, Johnson was indicted by Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan on two counts of attempting to commit assault and battery with a firearm, assault with intent to commit a felony, two counts of possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of ammunition, and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling in the aftermath of an incident where shots were fired at Clement Morgan Park at 60 Columbia St. in June of 2018.
