Popular Women's Clothing, Decor Business To Open In Chestnut Hill

NEWTON, MA — A globally-recognized fashion, home, and lifestyle brand is opening its first Massachusetts location in Chestnut Hill later this year.

LoveShackFancy is slated to open its doors on 27 Boylston St. at The Street Chestnut Hill on Friday. The company specializes in clothing and accessory collections for women and children, footwear and home decor. Check out the video below for an inside look at the store.

Founded in 2013 by Rebecca Hessel Cohen, LoveShackFancy was born from an inciting incident in which Cohen partnered with a New York City Garment District designer to craft bridesmaids' dresses. These dresses became the company’s first signature item after Cohen received numerous requests for the gown.

Cohen was the senior fashion and beauty editor at Cosmopolitan magazine when she launched LoveShackFancy and remained in that role for a time before deciding to go full-time with the store.

The business operated fully online for its first five years until Cohen opened its first location in Sag Harbor, Long Island, New York. One year later, in 2019, a second location opened at 390 Bleeker St. in New York City, which would become the most popular. There are now more than 20 LoveShackFancy spots, including one in London, England, which launched in December 2022.

“We’re so excited to join The Street Chestnut Hill,” Cohen said. “LoveShackFancy is all about creating joy and celebration, and The Street has such a beautiful spirit of community and togetherness. It felt like the perfect home.”

Cohen said the new store has numerous seasonal events and promotions planned post-launch, including mother-daughter experiences, fragrance events, bridal styling, trunk shows, and holiday gifting.

“Its romantic aesthetic, joyful spirit, and immersive approach to retail will add something truly special to the property, and we know our guests will love experiencing everything the brand has to offer,” The Street Chestnut Hill Manager Emmy Parsons said in a statement.

The business is celebrating its opening with celebrations all weekend long. The opening weekend schedule includes:
