Meet your neighbors and celebrate the diversity in the city.
Mayor Setti Warren is inviting the public to a reception on Sunday, Dec. 20, from 1â2 p.m. on the second floor of Newton City Hall to celebrate the diversity and inclusiveness of the Newton community, including the immigrant and refugee population.
The event is co-sponsored by the Newton Interfaith Clergy Association and the Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition (MIRA).

Mayor Warren hopes to bring everyone together â people of all ages, religions, races, ethnicities, disabilities, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, born in the United States or elsewhere.
The event includes a short speaking program including some facts about U.S. policies on refugees and immigrants, light refreshments, and fellowship. Those joining Mayor Setti Warren for the speaking program include: religious leaders, officials and advocates who work with immigrants and refugees, a refugee, and representatives from Newton Public Schools and Newton Police.
