Young Boy Killed in Methuen Crash

A two-car crash in Methuen killed a young boy Tuesday morning, police said.

According to Methuen Police, the six-year-old boy was ejected from the car, a Honda Civic, after it was struck by a Ford Econoline on Berkeley Street and spun out of control. He was declared dead at the scene.

The accident occurred at 7:25 a.m. as the Civic traveled eastbound on East Brook Place, police said.

The driver of the Civic, a 34-year-old woman from Lawrence, was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No other passengers were in the vehicle.

Following the collision, the Econoline continued traveling on Berkeley Street, crashing through a fence and into a wall of the Meeting House Hill Cemetery. The driver remained on scene and is cooperating with police. He was unharmed in the crash, and there were no other passengers in his van.

The incident remains under investigation by the Methuen Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
