The School Committee and the North Andover Education Association traded final proposals this week but remain apart on key issues like working conditions, scheduling, and pay, and say negotiations will continue. 
• North Andover Police Stop 35 Drivers In Crosswalk School Safety Sting (patch.com) — North Andover police stopped 35 drivers in just two days during a crosswalk safety sting ahead of the new school year, issuing warnings and citations for failing to yield. Officers say the enforcement campaign will continue for several weeks and are urging local motorists to slow down, stay alert, and be ready to stop for pedestrians in all crosswalks.
• Obituary: Carol Ann Mary (Shawcross) Picard (pressherald.com) — Carol Ann Mary (Shawcross) Picard, 79, who once lived in North Andover before settling in Billerica and later Old Orchard Beach, has died after a long battle with cancer. Remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and beach lover, she built a close-knit family, cherished friends from work and retirement, and requested private services with suggested memorial donations to cancer and hospice organizations.
