Burn Permits Available For 2020 Burn Season, Which Begins Jan. 15
Residents must obtain new permits to burn during the 2020 burn season, which will run Jan. 15 to May 1.
NORTH ANDOVER, MA — Burn permits are available for the 2020 burn season, ahead of its start next week, Jan. 15. Permits are available at nafd.us/burn, the North Andover Fire Department reminded residents in a release Tuesday. Once the open burning season begins, officials will determine each morning at 9:30 a.m. whether burning will be allowed that day, based on weather conditions. On allowed days, residents must then activate their permits, also at nafd.us/burn.
"Open burning can only be conducted with a permit issued by the fire department and is only permitted for brush, cane, driftwood, forestry debris, agricultural debris, and, under limited conditions, fungus-infected elm wood. Burning grass, hay, leaves, stumps, and commercial or industrial land clearing for non-agricultural purposes is prohibited," according to the release.
Permits can be revoked for leaving fires unsupervised, for burning on non-permitted days, or for allowing fire to grow out of control.
