Developer, Society Float New Idea For North Andover Lot

The Historical Society was scheduled to discuss a controversial proposal to convert the printing museum into eight condos later this week.

NORTH ANDOVER, MA -- The North Andover Historical Society and a developer who wanted to convert the shuttered Caroline Stevens Rogers building into an eight-unit condominium complex are looking at another proposal that would largely preserve the building. Under the new proposal, the building at 800 Massachusetts Avenue would be divided into three lots, with one being preserved for open space, one for the headquarters of the society and one to be sold "offered for sale with consideration given to priority goals for the Historical Society."

According to the Eagle-Tribune, which first reported this story, the for-sale lot would include the building that had been eyed by local developer Tom Zahoruiko. "We definitely found out what matters to people," Zahoruiko told the newspaper, referring to opposition that had mounted to the original proposal.
