We are thrilled to once again host this exciting concert that features amazing voices from the greater Boston area. This year we open the concert with Merrimack College’s own “Mack-Apella” Made up of 18 students of all year levels, Merrimack's very own a cappella singing group, Mackapella, has hit the ground running this past year. The group arranges original music of all genres, reaching new heights with unique harmonies and beats. Mackapella is delighted to be opening tonight, and looks forward to gracing the stage at the Rogers Center for many times to come.
Also, from Berklee College, we are eager to bring you Women of the World, an ensemble of exceptional women from every continent of the world. Hailing from the U.S., Pakistan, Japan, Zimbabwe, Italy, Greece, Brazil, etc ., these seven singers and band mates create rich tapestries of culture and sound as they perform both original and traditional songs. Based at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Women of the World plan to share their unique music with audiences in the coming year and we are very happy to welcome them to the Rogers Center for the Arts.
We wrap up the evening with a return performance of the ultra-fabulous Boston Jazz Voices. Boston Jazz Voices offers a unique combination of those old sounds and contemporary vocal jazz idiom. Their membership consists of talented musicians from all genres and from all age groups, and yet they all are dedicated to the same mission: to perfect the vocal jazz ensemble, and to capture the hearts of those who hear them. They share a love for the same ensemble vocal jazz singing that their predecessors dreamed about.
Boston Jazz Voices is indebted to those whose dreams and passions provided the foundation for what they represent. It is their hope that they reach and touch all who are drawn into the magic of vocal jazz ensemble singing. That is their goal. This is their history.
