Who Are North Andover's Political Donors Giving To?
Elizabeth Warren was the favorite of North Andover's donors in the first half of the year.
NORTH ANDOVER, MA — North Andover's political donors spread money widely this year, but gave Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren's campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination the most love among presidential candidates. According to data from the Federal Elections Commission, most of which dates to the end of June, North Andover residents gave Warren's campaign almost $5,000, almost one fifth of all presidential campaign donations from the town. Including third quarter donations, they also gave over $9,000 to Congresswoman Lori Trahan.
North Andover's campaign donors gave over $2,000 to five other presidential candidates, as well as a variety of congressional campaigns and issues-based committees. 475 people donated, for a total of $65,568.30 in the first half of the year. A few organizations have reported data for donations after June 31, but the majority cut off at that point. Trahan's donations mostly came in the third quarter.
Among presidential candidates, Warren received over $1,000 more than second biggest recipient of North Andover's dollars, President Donald Trump. Trump, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders and South Bend, Ind. Mayor Pete Buttigieg all got more than $3,000.

Many resident donations came in small increments, often made through ActBlue, a nonprofit which many Democrats use to raise online donations. Almost $28,000 in contributions were made through the service. ActBlue itemizes small donations, which is not required, so data on donations to Democrats is more complete than donations to Republicans or other organizations.
