Battles...

Thought and Poem

Thought and Poem – March 19, 2015

When we think of “battles” we often think of physical wars that have been fought around the world. But when I think back on my life, I can think of the many different battles I personally had to win to get me to the person I am today.

We each face problems or circumstance that we cannot do anything about. And like any battle, we try to weigh out the strategies we will use to fight them in the best way we can. There are some battles we may have to face where we know we won’t win because there are just some things we can do nothing about. But when dealing with each we learn to build on our resources that we stockpile within us to do the best we can to endure. There are times we may have to gird on a tighter and more realistic attitude about what we can expect or we may need to add a little more strength and courage to ward off consistent enemy attacks. But in the end as with any battle, there are lessons we can learn that will help us be the person we were meant to be and have a little something of ourselves left over that we can share with another who may need a little reinforcement from a voice of experience to help them face their battles.

What about those battles we face that leave scars from the deep wounds we have received? Instead of allowing these scars to hold us back can they not be reasons to keep trying? Do they not show the determination we have that keeps us enduring no matter what battles we have to face?

What about you? What helps you to win your personal battles and how does what you learn from them allow you to glean ways to overcome and face forward? Share your thoughts with us…Jeanne Claire Probst

Battles…

I’ve fought a lot of battles in my life,
And although I fought them with all my might,
Some have left their scars, but the toughest ones are the battles,
That try to undermine what I want to do, and leave me kind of frazzled.

There are scars you cannot see,
As I carry them quietly inside me,
And even though there have been battles I have not won,
I have learned important lessons from each one.

Still though, no matter how many times my enemies have tried to keep me falling to the ground,
I am determined to stay strong, and will continue to fight my battles, as they come around.
Some of my battles have been short and I have been victorious in the fight,
While others I may never win, and I will have to fight them for the rest of my life.

And even though I may grow weary, as I want to end my personal wars,
The reality is there will always be something I will have to fight of course.
So I better take my battles one at a time,
And if I am wounded I will allow my wounds to heal overtime.

I hope I can keep strong and standing on my feet.
So I can face my battles courageously, as I never want to taste defeat.
I can only hope that one day I can finally put my battles in the past,
And have the peace I look forward to having in my life at last.
