Whiz Kid’s Key to Awesomeness:  Starting with a map of each section of Howard Street Cemetery,  Brandon Warren along with some friends from Boy Scout Troop 101, searched out grave sites of Veterans and mapped them out with GPS coordinates.  This information, along with the Veteran’s name, branch of service, conflict, and any general information, is now part of a database that can be used to find these sites.

The American Legion will use this list to assist them when placing U.S flags at the grave sites for Memorial Day. Northborough Town Hall will also have a copy of this information.

Warren stated that it took over 200 combined hours to complete his Eagle Scout project.  Eagle Scout is the highest rank a Boy Scout can earn.  A lot of time went into the planning of the project and the footwork.  He also indicated that a few old graves were found in the process, some dating back to the War of 1812 and the Civil War.

Warren is scheduled for his Board of Review  in May, which will confirm his Eagle Scout status.

Having been in scouting for years, and recently completing extra training to become an Assistant Scout Master so he can participate in some upcoming trips along with his brother who recently joined Troop 101, he looks back with a sense of accomplishment.  “It takes a lot of planning and effort, and follow through. When you look back and see what you‘ve accomplished, it’s all worth it.”

He will be attending UMASS-Lowell next year and plans to major in Criminal Justice.
