There's a Goat at the Door: The Uniquely Interesting Police Log 2011

These incidents all hit the police log of 2011, and they stood out, for one reason or another.

One of the most read features on Northborough Patch, in any local paper, is the daily police log. Reporting on the calls of the day, the log clocks in the department's responses to anything from a medical call to drunk drivers to arguing siblings to turtles in the road. It can be amusing, startling, disturbing...but just plain interesting.

Here, we've chiseled out some of the most remarkable police log entries from 2011.

On Jan. 5, police reported that someone got in a car crash in Shrewsbury, only to leave the scene and get in another in Northborough on Avalon Drive.

A person called to report he had been bitten by a coworker at his place of employment on Pierce Drive, on Jan. 13. The following day, an employee working at a business on Otis Street reports receiving counterfeit money. Earlier that day, cows gathered in the parking lot of another business on Forbes Rd.

During the afternoon of Monday, Jan. 17, a Go-Kart was stolen from someone's property on Southwest Cutoff. Later that day, there was an unarmed robbery, but the getaway vehicle was not a Go-Kart.

On Jan. 18, plow driver was arrested for OUI on Belmont Street.

Geese wandered into the road on Jan. 21, and according to the police report, the "officer advised the geese to be careful."

On Jan. 25, Northborough police assisted with shooting a goose that was trying to gain access to a building on Hudson Street. And on Jan. 27, Armondo G. Petruzziello, Jr., 35, 27 Green St., Northborough, was arrested for domestic A&B and A&B aggravated on a pregnant woman.

On Jan. 29, an employee reports that a man is quite possibly asleep in the store on Otis Street.

and other offenses after a crash in Shrewsbury that ultimately involved the Shrewsbury, Marlborough and Northborough police departments, as well as a call from the driver's wife. Clayton Watts, 74 Chestnut St., of Marlborough was charged with OUI, negligent operation, speeding, marked lanes violation, suspended license, leaving the scene of personal inujry and leaving the scene of property damage after he smashed his Dodge Caravan into an island and DPW sign, and left the scene on foot to the Northborough Econo Lodge.

At 8:50 a.m. on Feb. 9, there was a Report of deer stuck in a pool on Potter Circle. The deer was able to get itself out.

The first of many SA Farm-related incidents is reported on March 5 when several pigs wandered in to the road.

On March 7, at 3:13 p.m., a resident reports to police that his neighbor shot at him with a paintball gun the previous day on Allen Court.

There is a report of pigs in the road on March 29, on Whitney Street.

On March 31, the police assist in freeing a cat that is stuck in a drain on Deacon Street.

There is a five-car accident on Belmont Street April 4.

April 13, 4:09 p.m., speak to staff regarding larceny of some cash from tip jar, West Main Street.

On April 23, a resident reports that a grey minivan has come and gone three times in the past month to Kendall Drive.

A caller reports, on April 24, that her teenage son is intoxicated and out of control, Mohawk Drive. He was transported to Marlborough Hospital.

On April 30, several callers complain of noise from a bulldozer, as well as strong odors and flies from SA Farm, Whitney Street.

Domesticated turkeys swarmed a yard on Patrick Drive on May 19, and later in the day, an employee on Belmont Street is injured from an assault at the desk. She is transported to UMass.

On May 24, at 8:07 a.m., a neighbor reports trash trucks dumping trash on Whitney Street. The following day, two Northborough teens are

A male party, on June 11, runs into the woods after making concerning statements and is possibly in possession of a firearm. Westborough PD with canine is called for mutual aid to School Street and a man is transported to Marlborough Hospital.

June 13, 6:17 p.m., a resident requests help with a missing cat. This cat is later found inside her residence at Fernbrook Rd. 

A caller reports a child who is unaccounted for on June 14, at 5:35 p.m. State Police are contacted for assistance. The child is at music lessons in Shrewsbury. 

On Fathers Day, officers respond to a verbal dispute between brothers in the parking lot of Main Street.

July 7, a resident on Bearfoot Rd. reports that his radiator was stolen.

Two thieves fled on foot after stealing from the Solomon Pond Mall on July 14, l

Things aren't so easy on Easy Street on July 14, as a resident reports someone rang her doorbell multiple times, "and no one is at the door."

July 31, there are multiple calls from residents stating that a large turtle is on Nelson Drive.

In the early morning hours of Tuesday, Aug. 16, someone called police to report that two men were making threats and trying to get into his hotel room on Belmont Street. Later that morning, loose cows walked Green Street. 

On Aug. 17,the . Andrew P. Sikora, 36, Crestwood Dr., Northborough, faces Judge Robert Calagioni on charges that include using a snow recreational vehicle in a public way, operating under the influence while using a snow recreational vehicle, negligent and reckless operation causing serious injury and OUI causing serious injury.

Aug. 22, 3:11 a.m., a caller reports two people are breaking into her vehicle on Fiske Drive.

On Aug. 30, two log incidents stand out. First, a resident on Allen Court called to report that her neighbor was "sweeping her grass." The party was spoken to, but we're not sure why. Is it a crime to sweep the grass? A few hours later, police were beckoned to Hudson Street, where someone is possibly trying to capture some geese. 

Remember when Hurricane Irene knocked the town out of power at the end of August?

Before police got there, the boys were gone. But on Sept. 4, at 7:14 p.m., someone called to report that there was a group of males fighting on South Street. The fight was about soccer. 

On Sept. 13, 5:30 p.m., Theodore Leilehua Morey, 48, 46 Briarwood Lane, Apt. 7, Marlborough, is arrested in Northborough for possession of a stun gun, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, suspended license and uninsured car. The stun gun was found on the floor of the passenger area during an inventory search.

On the morning of Sept. 20, a resident finds shell casings on Juniper Hill Rd.

A woman is charged on Sept. 23 with assault and battery

3:20 a.m., Sept. 27, a caller reports that a car horn beeping for more than an hour on Stratton Way.

On Oct. 2, 2:56 a.m., a resident reports a strange noise in the house on Pleasant Street. As it turns out, there is a strange noise; her son is in the garage having a drink. 

Susan L. Canderozzi, 55, 3 Buena Vista Dr., Northborough, is charged with shoplifting by asportation on Oct 4 for the third time.

In October, alleged rapist is arrested by Northborough police for an assault on a disabled person.

There is a report of someone shoplifting a bag of apples, Ball Street, on Oct. 9.

In mid-Novemeber, police warn residents to lock up those cars,

On Saturday, Nov. 26, 12:42 a.m., a caller reports being shot in the eye by a BB gun on Whitney Street.

On Nov. 29, 5:21 p.m., a resident on Howe Lane reports that one of her neighbors is in her basement.
