Thought and Poem - June 21, 2015
One of the biggest thrills we may experience in our lives is when we become old enough to get our driver’s license. It is even more thrilling, if we PASSED our driving test, and still even more thrilling if our parents bought us our own car to drive, we bought our own car to drive, or our parents had a car they would let us drive.
From the first time we put the key in an ignition, we are sold…we are never going to walk anywhere again. No longer will we exert physical energy to obtain anything we may needed at the store or if we needed to go anywhere else. Cars became our best friend…for life…the sunshine of our days.

So with this being said, it can be traumatizing when our cars brake down and we have to resort to WALKING! I know from life experiences, that cars will break down from time to time and will have to remain in a repair shop for several days for a mechanic to diagnose the problem and fix it but when it happens to me…it is like losing my best friend. My hopes are that it is just temporary and that trained mechanics can fix the boo-boo and return my “friend” to me…FAST!
You never realize how much you depended on your car until you have to go without one for some time. It puts shopping at the store in a whole new light. When you have to have someone take you…you make a list, study it, and then stick to it at the store when you are there so that you do not leave the store without your all-important items. Otherwise….one goes without until someone will take you again. But, I will grant you…it does save money.

Like a Day without Sunshine…
A day without your car...
Is by far...
Like a day without sunshine...
But many don’t mind.
After all, when we were younger we used to walk to get wherever we needed to go...
Our feet where the “wheels” that transported us whether it was sunny, raining, or if it had snowed.
However today, not so much…
Our feet and the sidewalk or pavement rarely touch.
Our feet know only how to use the “brakes and gas pedals” of our cars...
So when we have to walk...we don’t go very far.
It can be trial-some having to walk to the store...
The store may as well be on MARS because getting there may be a chore.
For those who haven’t walked beyond the steps we take from the couch to the fridge...
Walking outside our homes is going to be a new experience...
An experience we hope won’t be too much for our hearts...
Depression may set in because life just isn’t the same when we don’t have our cars.
While in a repair shop it may seem as if we have lost our best friend...
And we wonder if we will ever see our cars again...
Let’s face it...without our cars life will simply be...
Like a day without sunshine...a day of misery!
