History of the Wachusett Reservoir

An informative and entertaining program on the history of the Wachusett Reservoir. Part of the history is the construction of the aqueduct that spans the Assabet River on Hudson Street in Northborough.

Author Eamon McCarthy Earls talks about the construction of the dam in Clinton, and the work involved in preparing miles of land for an amazing engineering feat. He shows a number of historic photos.

His book, Wachusett: How Boston's 19th Century Quest for Water Changed Four Towns and a Way of Life, is the first book published on the reservoir.  Copies will be available for sale. High school students may also find this interesting, as the author (who is a polished speaker) is a high school senior.
