Thought and Poem – June 23, 2015
It doesn’t take much to change one’s sleeping pattern. Anything can make a person who can sleep the whole night through one day…and then they can find themselves staring at the ceiling from their bed the next because of something that may have happened during the day.
Never understood why we can’t just pull the covers down, plop up the pillows and crawl under the blankets and sleep. Why do we have to get in bed and recant our day, or our yesterdays and then find ourselves void of sleep? And then because we can’t sleep we start playing back our faults and start wondering where we went wrong.
Now this in itself is not a good thing, but for one who writes during these sleepless nights, it does give me ideas to write about. Sometimes I hit the jackpot and will find myself writing for hours. And if that doesn’t make me tired, then I spend more of my sleepless hours drawing on my computer. It is kind of funny how time will fly by when you are having fun because usually I start getting tired just about when the moon is saying good bye while waving to the sun as it comes up. Such is life!
What about you? When you can’t sleep how do you force yourself to stay in bed and make sleep come? Share your thoughts with us…Jeanne Claire Probst
No Sleep Business…
My bed and I are not getting along…
We are singing the same ole song…
I want to sleep…
But my bed won’t let me!
After a while even a song can grow old on us…
And we’ll want to find a new tune I trust…
And it this doesn’t work then I give up…
With this no sleep business…I have had enough!
My eyes want to close…
My body is tired from head to toes…
The sun went down and the moon is where it should be…
I have all the ingredients necessary to promote sleep?
So tell me why…
No matter how hard I try…
That sleep doesn’t come…
Not a single wink…absolutely not one?
So rather than get all depressed…
Because I am not sleeping like the rest…
I just use this time to catch up on things that need to be done…
Until I wake up someone.
Then I have someone to talk to…
Even though waking up they did not chose…
We have a snack…
Then we sit back and watch TV while we relax
After a while I start making a list of chores we can do…
And how we can rearrange the Family Room…
Just thinking of these ideas makes me tired and we go back to bed…
Who wants to do chores when we should be sleeping instead?
