Seasons vs Reading...Which is right for you?

Thought and Poem

Thought and Poem – March 31, 2015

When I looked out my kitchen window yesterday, I saw a little bunny rabbit hopping around in my back yard over by the fence where I had planted carrots last summer. It was also when I noticed that in just a few days almost all the snow in my yard had disappeared. The prospect of having another garden this year moved me to want to act.

By “acting,” basically, I mean…thinking! And even thinking at times can cause me to feel as if I had run a marathon depleting me on any ability to think anymore. However today, I did have the energy to run the route and I started to think about all the things I wanted to do come summer.

Thinking about summer fun builds in us such anticipation and it makes it hard having to wait one minute more before we can do what we are looking forward to doing. We then start planning our vacations and where we want to go and what we want to do when we get there. The list can go on and on…tired yet?

I am looking forward to planting a garden again this year, and hoping to have the health and ability to be out in it working the soil and watching what I plant grow. I am looking forward to seeing all the butterflies, the bees, and the birds that will stop by for a visit. Speaking of birds…today…I saw my first robin! I am happy!

Seasons Vs. Reading Which Is Right For You?

Summertime, we’ve heard it before

Is the time of year when vacationers head to the shores?

For many, the peaceful waves are hard to ignore.

The sound of the seagulls gawking and the sun shining above

These are two things people who go to the beach crave and love

They can’t wait for the new day’s dawn to show and then they flock the beaches in droves.

Now wintertime has some good things to offer too

For people who like the snow and ice winter can deliver these for you.

Sledding down the hill, skating on the ice or skiing on the ski slopes these might be the winter things you like to do.

The smell of the pine as the cold breeze stings your face

The excitement to be felt when competing in a winter sports race

Or the crispness of the morning as to the cold you awaken these might be what you wish to embrace.

For me, I guess I can say that I like the spring and fall kind of days

Where you can sit and read a book either sunning on the breezeway or in front of a fire on the colder parts of the day

And let the plot of the book you read take you from the reality around you and whisk you far away.

Maybe you will find yourself in a quiet place at the end of the earth on a journey you have never been before

Or to a place where the culture and beauty it offers you cannot seem to ignore

A book like the seasons can offer so much to you if you take time to turn its pages and explore.

So which is right for you?

Reading a book or the changing seasons these are both there from which you can choose

What you will want to do with each day and how you will escape life’s stresses and hullabaloos.

The answers are neither right nor wrong

The seasons bring new delights and each day will sings a new song

Or maybe to read is what makes you strong and give you a sense that this is where you belong.
