Thought and Poem – May 11, 2015
The temperatures have been so high in our area; the soil in my back yard is cracking. This is not good for anyone who is trying to grow a garden. I have taken extra care to make sure I water some everyday. It seems that as soon as I water the ground, the water is gone in minutes and the soil looks as if I should water again.
Wish that we could get rid of any problems we face in our lives as quickly as the water disappears underground on hot days. Oh no…that would be too easy. We would never be able to learn what we are made of that will help us to power through or learn to work things out if we had it too easy. I would be okay with never learning what I am made of at times. I could use a break…how about you?

All winter long we complained that it was cold, dark and gloomy and we beg for the sun to make an appearance. Well the sun has been hanging around for a couple of weeks now and we long for the nighttime to come so that we can get relief from the scorching heat.
We can take a lesson from the plants we see growing around us even as they stand under the hot/scorching sun. They may wither some, or bow low to the ground but what a rejoicing occurs when they have a little water to drink. They rise up on their stems and open their blossoms for all to see. They are given a little extra of what they already have that helps them to make it through…the ability to hang on and endure.

It is the same with people. Trials may allow us to see what we are made of and what we have to gain from the experience that will make us stand taller today than we did yesterday even when enduring the trials that come over us like the hot sun.
What about you? Do you allow the waters of comfort and hope to help you get through your trials? Share your thoughts with us…Jeanne Claire Probst
We will get by…
Whoa it is so hot outside
It is making the soil so dry…
That the ground is slurping up the water as soon as I sprinkle it on;
It is there for a minute or two and then it is gone.
Wish our problems in life would go away this quickly
Rather than hang around stressing us out and making us so sickly
Or making us depressed or low in spirit
Like the hot weather who can bear it?
But look at it this way
At night when the sun is tucked away
It will be somewhat cooler and life is easier to endure
This is for sure.
So when problems come our way
Know that you will be okay
No amount of stressing we may do
Is going to help us to power through.
So do what you can and let the rest of what you can’t be put aside
To address at another time
And just as the soil slurps up the waters when it is hot and dry
We will get through the problems we face each day…we will get by!
