On Wednesday, May 7, Boston Partners in Education celebrated the tenth anniversary of its signature literacy initiative, The Big Cheese Reads. Gala Honoree Jay Hooley was presented an award for his commitment to improving the lives of Boston’s youth through workforce development and education. As Chairman, President & CEO of State Street Corporation, Mr. Hooley’s commitment to volunteering with Boston Partners reinforces the company’s culture of giving back to the communities they serve.
In January, Mr. Hooley visited the Eliot K-8 Innovation School in the North End for The Big Cheese Reads and saw the impact Boston Partners’ in-classroom academic mentoring services have on Boston Public Schools K-12 students.
“Big Cheese Readers provide tremendous inspiration for these young people,” Mr. Hooley said. “I am honored to accept this award on behalf of State Street and our many employees who have supported Boston Partners in Education over the past four decades and believe passionately in the great work this organization is doing in our public schools.”
