National Geographic Kids Magazine Produced in Braille by National Braille Press of Boston
National Braille Press (NBP) today announced the production and shipment of braille copies of National Geographic Kids

National Braille Press (NBP) today announced the production and shipment of braille copies of National Geographic Kids. This is the first ever braille edition of the magazine, distributed to approximately 3,500 blind and visually impaired children through a partnership with the National Federation of the Blind and American Action Fund for Blind Children and Adults. A braille version is transcribed and proofread, and then each copy is pressed and collated by hand at NBP before it is sent out to a child to read.
“National Geographic Kids is a publication that all children, both sighted and visually impaired, should read. National Braille Press is proud to be part of a project that inspires blind and visually impaired children to explore the world,” said Brian Mac Donald, President of National Braille Press.
Nancy Krumaker, parent of a braille reader, told NBP, “We received a copy last week and my vision impaired, very resistant, braille reader just loved this book. She read it from cover to cover. Thank you so much for getting her to like reading.”
