his tour will introduce attendees to the story of Boston’s lost neighborhood, The West End.
In 1959 an entire neighborhood with hundreds of dwellings, businesses, houses of worship and thousands of people was destroyed as part of the federal Urban Renewal program and replaced by high rise apartments.
We will visit surviving landmarks of the West End and learn about the people of the West End, the debate over the destruction of the neighborhood and the fate of those who lived there.
