Hornets Knocked Out of Tourney by Reading
The North Reading Hornets lost 5-2 in the first round of the MIAA Division 2 North tournament.

Things were going great for the fourth-ranked North Reading Hornets on Thursday afternoon until Reading Memorial High School 3B Ashley Tango made a diving catch to end the third.
At that point, North Reading was up 1-0 on a triple by Meredith Moise and single by Alicia McCauley – and pitcher Terri Ferrazzani had only allowed two infield singles.
There’s an old baseball adage that great offense follows a great defensive play when the fielder leads off the next inning. That was the case in North Reading Thursday as Tango led off Reading’s fourth with a double. O’Sullivan followed up with a double of her own. Lindsay Tango later singled home O’Sullivan to give the Rockets a 2-1 lead.

The Hornets continued to threaten in the seventh, but O’Sullivan made a diving catch. The Hornets had the tying run at the plate two batters later, but lefthander Michaela Reeves, who went the distance for the Rockets, got Tarah Reilly to ground out to Ashley Tango to end the game.
The Hornets end the season at 16-6.
