North Reading Girls Face Rival H-W In Opener
Hornets earn No. 6 seed in Division 2 North basketball tournament.
The North Reading girls' basketball team earned the No. 5 seed in the MIAA Division 2 North tournament and a Wednesday rematch with Cape Ann rival Hamilton-Wenham in the first round. The MIAA released the basketball tournament pairings Friday.
The Hornets finished the regular season 15-5 and will face No. 12 seed H-W (11-9) for a second time after beating the Generals 53-36 earlier this month. Should North Reading advance, it would face the winner of the Wakefield vs. Burlington game in the quarterfinals.
The Division 2 North seeds are: 1. Lynn Classical (19-1); 2. Pentucket (20-2); 3. Melrose (17-3); 4. Wakefield (15-5); 5. North Reading (15-5); 6. Danvers (15-5); 7. Newburyport (14-6); 8. Wilmington (13-7); 9. Saugus (12-8); 10. Tewksbury (12-8); 11. Somerville (11-8); 12. Hamilton-Wenham (11-9); 13. Burlington (10-10); 14. Arlington Catholic (10-10).
