North Reading Schools Closed Friday

Massive storm dumps more than foot of snow on region, forces schools to close a second day.

From the town of North Reading:

North Reading Public Schools will be closed Friday, January 5th.

North Reading DPW crews and contracted equipment continue snow plowing operations.

There have been no reported power outages.

The public is advised to stay off of the roads while DPW and contracted crews continue snow plowing this evening. The public is also reminded that North Reading bylaws prohibit plowing/pushing/shoveling/snowblowing snow back into the public way.

Non-residential property owners are reminded of their responsibility to remove snow/ice from sidewalks in front of their property within 24 hours of the end of snowfall. Failure to comply is punishable by a fine of $300 per day.

Due to the forecasted snowstorm, Town of North Reading non-emergency services including Town Hall, Flint Memorial Library, and Edith O'Leary Senior Center are closed on Thursday, January 4, 2018.

Also, due to forecasted weather conditions, the neighborhood informational meeting about the Haverhill Street sidewalk extension has been postponed from 1/4/18 to Thursday, 1/11/18 at 6 p.m. in room 14 of the Town Hall, 235 North Street. Merrimack Valley Regional Transit Authority has informed the Town that the North Reading Ring and Ride program is not operating on Thursday, January 4th. Service is anticipated to resume on Friday.
